I bet I can give you a run for your money on dragon statues. As I collect them in multiple mediums ranging from carved in to a horn to out of woven jute. As to a chinchilla its a very furry rodent, basically a rabbit body with a mouse head, and a wire brush tail.

Hi all,

I saw Caleo's post on the official Leviathan forums and decided to check out your guild. I read through this thread and you seem like a great bunch of folks, so I put in an app. I made a Conjurer (named Daikon Nakamura) during the open beta and got to level 19 (like 95% of the way to 20) and plan on going White Mage.

About Me:
My name is Mike, I'm 32, and I work as a Software QA Tester. My first MMO was Asheron's Call back in 1999. I played that off and on for several years. I also played Anarchy Online for a brief stint when it launched. I played Asheron's Call 2 for about 6 months. I played FFXI for a short while when it launched, but back then I found the game to just be too grindy for my tastes.

I played the open beta for WoW and was hooked and played it for 4 years straight without any breaks. These were my "hardcore" years of gaming lol. This was when I pvp'd 16 hours a day in the old ladder system to get High Warlord and still raided 4 nights a week. Got pretty much burnt out on the game at the end of TBC, right before Wrath came out. Took a break for a while and came back near the end of WoltK. Played the first half or so of Cata, took another break, then came back right before MoP. I played MoP till about 2 months ago when I just got tired of it and started looking for other games. That's when FFXIV caught my attention.

Other MMO's I played during those WoW breaks: Warhammer Online, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, and LOTRO. MMO's are my genre of choice, so I spend most of my gaming time in those, but I also dabble in Starcraft 2 and League of Legends.

Other Interests:
I love to sing and have a youtube channel I post stuff to ( for example). I like to do the old standards type stuff, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. I'm still working on improving my vocal techniques, but I'm much better than I was a year ago. :D

That's the type of music I sing, but the type of music I listen to is completely different. I love punk rock: NOFX, Bad Religion, Dropkick Murphy's, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, etc. I go to live shows as often as I can.

I also love pretty much anything related to zombies. I also love me some science and regularly listen to lectures/discussions on youtube of people like Neil Degrasse Tyson, Lawrence Krauss, Brian Cox, etc.

Anyways, can't wait to meet you all in game and feel free to hit me up if you need a healer :D .

Hello everyone :)!

I found your recruitment thread from the subreddit, and I'm excited to be able to join a community as cool as your's.

I've dabbed myself in a few MMOs. Played Guild Wars for a few years, then picked up the second installment earlier this year to only be left disappointed. Ended up quitting after only a month of playing, because of the lack of end-game content. I didn't play FFXI or FFXIV, so this is new ground for me. In fact, I didn't hear about this game until about a week ago, so I have a lot of catching up to do! I actually don't even have a character name or have my classes and races solidified just yet, so I might need some help with that.

My name is Duy. I'm 20 and from Michigan. I'm going into Secondary Education with Math and German as my majors. I'm often regarded as quiet and somebody who doesn't engage in conversation often, but I love hanging out with people :) (I guess I'm a bit of a creeper?). I enjoy basketball, PC gaming, reading, and working with kids.

I hope to one day not be allergic to cats.

Thanks for the opportunity and I hope to see you all in-game!

Oh a creeper, nice to meet you! :)

Just kidding. Welcome, both Daikon and Woof.

@Daikon: Pretty awesome that you can sing classic jazz stuff! I could finally listen to it and loved it! :) Grats, you're really talented. I'm a jazz nut myself, as you may have read from my description hehe.

From your MMO experience… you're a heavy PVPer aren't you? Are you excited to try it in ARR? I think we have a quite few pvp fans at the moment… You could team up if that's the case ;)

@Woof: Some good material for you to catch-up:

All about FFXIV
Job/Class System explained
Race/God choices and lore naming conventions
What each attribute does
XIV Database (great for your cross-skill/leveling planning)
How to approach stat building for each job
Our Character Building forums, contains lots of guides

See you in-game! :)

Thank you! What kind of jazz stuff do you listen to?

I used to be a really heavy pvp'er. My play time was probably about 90% pvp 10% pve. These days, however, it's probably more like 80% pve 20% pvp. Which is good since the pve I've experienced so far in ARR has been really fun. I also prefer objective based pvp (like battlegrounds) over just straight up arena style matches, which is what I believe they are adding in ARR in 2.1 if I recall correctly. So I'll reserve any judgement on pvp in ARR until I actually get to try it.

@Daikon: While I do listen to all sorts of jazz, from bebop and big band to scandinavian jazz, my preferences float mostly around nu jazz (or electrojazz as some call it) and cool jazz. If you consider hip hop and trip hop as branches of jazz (which they actually are, but I'm talking about the original hip hop - like Herbie Hancock - not this RnB that people insist in calling hip hop) then I guess you can list those among my preferences as well.

This is the nu jazz album I've been listening to lately:
(Schema Records' youtube channel is great btw)

As for PVP, there will be an objective based PVP mode in FFXIV called Frontlines and afaik it's coming in 2.1. It'll be RvR too, but putting GC vs GC vs GC as the factions. We don't have an official GC of choice for PVPers in Synergy, as in… we won't force anyone to join a specific GC just for PvP. However we suggest those who are investing on it to organize themselves here on the forums and in-game to settle for an "official unnofficial GC" that ya'll will be playing on. When that's decided of course we'll promote and suggest it to others who like PVP down the road. :)

@Gussy: Yeah, actually Kaja, Mecer and some others who are my rl friends, are going to the bar tonight to, among other things, celebrate the coming of release/early access. Then they will all gather at Kaja's place after that to wait until the servers come up. Too bad they all live in another city now or else I'd join them!
