First of all forgive me not for giving my real name. i hate doing that on mmos. but you can just call me leon :D my ign is named after final fantasy 8 caracter that was renamed in the kingdom hearts series. since squall was way to common and always taken leon has a easier combination of names.
so im 25 years old. and im portuguese. but dont worry my english is very good. altough please forgive me for a few gramar errors.
i work part time so my gaming time is very big :P i like helping people so dont worry about asking my help ingame, and just as a heads up i will be going as a white mage / bard / sumoner / any other support stuff.
i am no noob on online gaming. i travel alot from mmo to mmo. and one thing i hate is a bad party. i am a perfectionist and i like things done well. my objectives right now is to reach max level as soon as posible and become one of the best in the server before new updates come. another important thing for me is to be in a good guild. one that is nice and more importantly SOCIAL. but that dosnt fall too behind other guilds. and at the same time isnt a elitist guild with all those rules and kicks etc etc. and i know asking of these things and doing nothing isnt fair. so i plan to be as of much help as posible
i have been on both ffxiv 1.0 and 2.0. so if there is something you dont know fell free to ask me in game. i have studied the game prety well on closed beta. and that is about it :) hope we get along
When I was initially playing FFXI with you guys I was in my early 20s. I had a lot of time on my hands for no reason besides my own laziness XD. Played from 2003 to 2007 I believe. Had the time of my life. No other game gave me such memories.
I think I lost interest because I started to go to bars and meet people and stopped playing. Was in a few bad relationships and then met my wife in 2008!
Around the same time I met my wife I started playing WoW. Got obsessed with it as most do. Then at the end of 2009 for Christmas my wife bought me a ps3 and I quit wow for the time being.
Once I found out a new Final Fantasy MMO was coming out I was stoked. I was really excited it was coming to ps3. I preordered it. I decided I would go back to FFXI and see if I could play that until release. It was far too different than it use to be and I lost interest within days. Then I bought a new computer and bought FFXIV for that. It was a little of a let down, but then I already knew it was going to be from reviews and things I read. Interesting though I ran into Fahzoo on the server I was on and talked to him for a bit.
I went back to wow after that disappointment. I played wow until just a month ago and I quit to get ready for this. But I was in a semi hardcore raiding guild for most of cataclysm and MoP. Not to jump to far ahead though
I got married last year! To the love of my life. Our daughter came a few months before it. She is beautiful. Her name is Lily.
My wife supports my gaming although does not game herself at all. I work a full time job at Verizon Wireless. I am pretty busy but pretty much play games as often as I can otherwise.
I told my wife that she is going to lose me for a bit when ARR launches. I plan on playing a lot. I can't wait to get back with you guys and start a new adventure. Thanks for having me again!
It's really amazing to meet you again after 6 years, Ebi! I'm glad to read through all your rl progress. Playing FFXI with you and the others was a great experience for me too.
But really… meeting Fahzoo during 1.0?! Wow! That's one hell of a coincidence. I did have Fahzoo on Facebook, but I don't remember his real name now and so I can't search for him on my friends list. It would be awesome to get him onboard as well. I do have Boutrose (his cousin?) though and I remember his real name so that might be a way…
Anyways, it will be great to play together once again, after we all matured (supposedly!) and have a better grasp at real life-game balance (I hope!). :)
Lily and I got divorced about 4 years ago now, I'm engaged to a wonderful woman (J) and helping to raise her 2 wonderful kids (future gamers, but so far only minecraft….)
She (J), is not a gamer, but understands my obsession, so is tolerant of my drug of choice. Aside from that, I'm now 34, a lab manager at "a large software company in Redmond, WA" (thats how the recruiters call it), doing what I love, living my dream. I saw FFXIV:ARR entering beta and totally applied to test that, to see if they polished the steaming turd that the 1.0 was, and totally fell in love with the world again, it feels like a true successor to FFXI. I'm not certain how frequent my playtime will be, but I would love the opportunity to play with my virtual friends and family again, and look forward to seeing you all in game!
Who am I? Are you sure you want to know? The story of my life isn't for the faint of heart…
~Props to anyone who can guess where that quote came from!
So here we go…
I am a 30 year old US gamer who works in the events industry. I have had a long storied history of gaming, starting with the Famicom in the late 80s.
My MMO experience began with SOE's Everquest, primarily because of my love for RPGs and multiplayer games. Since then, I moved on to Earth and Beyond, Lineage, Guild Wars, Eve and the big one: Final Fantasy XI.
I jumped on FFXI right during beta and was floored. The graphics and story was regular FF quality. Thus Caleo was born on an amazing server called Bismarck.
I created Unrockbar LS at the release of Final Fantasy XI: PC, after which it grew to an overwhelmingly popular LS. It went from a social LS to an sky/event LS to an endgame LS.
I played XI from 2001 until 2008 (with a brief come back campaign on 2009). I left the game due to RL changes (got divorced from my gamer ex-wife).
Since then I moved back to console gaming, primarily FPSs (yes, I'm a CoD gamer). I did beta test World of Warcraft and FF XIV 1.0, but never liked them enough to subscribe. Nothing was able to beat the caliber of FFXI.
2.0 was a different story. Having a beta test account since Phase 1, I was amazed at how beautiful and amazing the game had become. It was so much easier to play. Less grinding and more focused on content, thank you SE!
Other stuff…
I like to travel so I'm actually working in the right industry. I like to design but I dont usually have alot of time for it. I'm a foodie and like to try out everything except things that dont smell good. You'll find out more about me in-game.
Hello everyone. My name is Vayde and I was a member of The Templars of Baldur on Sylph in FFXI.
I held a pretty good reputation there as being someone that went against the grain: Like here, but always had time to help whenever I was needed.
I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old friends, meeting new friends, and all around having a good time in this game. I've played a majority of the major MMOs since FFXI and while fun, none of them held the same level & quality of community that Vana'diel had.
I'm known to be long winded, so I'll keep this introduction short and let my actions speak for themselves in-game and on these forums.
Hello everyone ^_^ My name is Celai and I'm 30 atm. I don't really have much experience with teh MMO's but, I did play WoW for about 8 years I guess. That was my first introduction to the genre. I've tried other games but always felt something was lacking either from the community or the game itself. I've enjoyed the beta so far and I'm really excited to try all the classes, esp the gathering and crafting classes /happydance. Although I may not know much right now, I hope to learn and grow with the rest of you. So thank you for having me and I hope to see all of you in game. :D
Hello, My name is Domenique in-game Nemisis I am a 24 yr old Telecommunications System Management System Student studying in Kentucky.
MMO:
I have been playing MMO's since i was about 12 I started with Champions of Norrath for the PS2 went from that to FF11 at 14 played that hardcore until 18 in which i joined the Military and my play time was cut down but i still played occasionally got back into FF11 around 20 played it off and on then eventually just quit. I have played FF11 with a lot of you and have such great memories that define me growing up it is weird knowing people i don't really know could have such an impact on my life. I bought FF14 V1 and never played it but am enjoying the beta so far and plan to play as hardcore as I can being down to 3 school semesters in college
Other Stuff:
I enjoy learning about other cultures, I am in a Fraternity but far from a Fratboy as people who know me can tell. love to travel and I lived in Europe for three years I can speak a little German, I have a deep voice that people say doesn't fit me since I am 6 feet tall (1.83m I think) and around 140lbs I am quite intimidating haha. Other than that I love games and I am looking forward to really getting into FF14:ARR. Any other questions just let me know!
Looking at Nemisis, Lunale, and others, I realize I've actually watched my friends grow up through FFXI… When you think about it, how damn cool is that?
It's great to see both of you and everything you're becoming/have become!
